Last year was definitely not the best year that Kye Kelley had in his racing career and there are numerous things that prove this. First, and we are pretty sure he would say the most important is the fact that his bellowed car, The Shocker ended up in a pile of broken parts after his friend David Gates crashed it during testing. The idea was that while his car was not finished and was probably not going to take him thru the Race You Way In part of the event, The Shocker is his best chance to get him thru the selection and have him in Kye Kelley’s corner for the rest of the races. Photo by Street Outlaws Unfortunately, in their heist, they did not “walk the track” and could not see that there was a pretty big amount of tree sap in the lane that he was testing in, which resulted in the car violently turning left, a maneuver that could not have been corrected in time to save the car from crashing. Honestly, we have never seen Kye Kelley so devastated after losing his bellowed car, but somehow, he managed to pull thru all this and get his other car back in the game and ready to race, which as funny as it might sound, ended up again in the hands of David Gates for the rest of the No Prep Kings season. According to latest Facebook post on Mike Murillo Racing, he has announced that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer. He made a video to talk about this on his Facebook page. Photo by Mike Murillo Racing Murillo said that he began feeling sick again last June while the No Prep Kings were competing at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota. He had to go to the emergency room on the following Houston race. In his video, he said that he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart on June 29th. This enlarged heart was causing problems with his lungs. On July 22nd, he went in for a cat scan. The results showed a mass on his lung. He said that the doctors believed that the mass on his lung had to be there when he battled Covid in January 2021. “During that time, there was no reason for them to order anything else,” he said in the video. He added doctors drained 16 ounces of fluid off of his heart. Then on August 15th, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer. “Either you fight or flight,” he said “after 24 hours, I decided that I was going to fight this. Treatment have been scheduled.” This is not a good news for racing community since Murillo has just suffered double knee replacement surgery in the beginning of February. During the filming of an episode of Street Outlaws 405 small tire show, Jeff Lutz was defeated by 405 racer Felicia Smith. On the night, she improved to 2-0 as she was 1-0 coming to the race. Photo by Discovery The two cars used had a 50-year difference, according to Shawn Ellington in the post. Smith got a huge jump on Lutz early on in the race. She then put a gap between a two cars. Photo by Discovery Lutz, the former Drag Week winner, was to about half-track when Smith crossed the finish line. Ellington felt like she was going to smoke the tires. However, Kamikaze Chris did not have the same feeling. “Totally my fault,” Lutz said. “Some must not have had boost. In the race against Felicia, Shawn banged the light and we left together. Then, my car fell on its fac. It was like it shut off. She was just driving out of my life. Junior has to get it figured out. We can’t be losing like this”. The first season featured eight episodes that lasted through July 29th, 2013. Street Outlaws 405 is currently in their latest season that was filmed last July during the Street Outlaws No Prep Kings break. The current season, which airs on the Discovery Channel on Monday nights, showcases the 405 drivers in small tires. In the very first episode, Chuck Seitsinger called out the late Flip for a spot on the list. Before his race with Chuck, Flip decided to impersonate security guards and prank Chuck during a bust on the street during testing. Shawn “Murder Nova” Ellington was the No.1 driver at the time. Also, on the episode, Brandon, who was unranked at the time, called out Farmtruck for the No.10 spot. What a ride it has been! Thanks for 10 great years of entertainment!

Brandon James is the driver that came in at the biggest Cash Days that The Street Outlaws have ever organized as a guy that nobody knew, and at the end, he drove off with everybody’s money in his pocket. While we are not sure if he managed to win on the first cash days ever that he entered, we all remember that when he first started racing in the competition, nobody was paying him any attention, however, all that changed as the finals started rolling in. A few rounds into the race, this new kid from California was starting to get everybody’s attention and folks realized that this street is the real equalizer that might just be that this underdog is heading to the top of the field. After winning the event as well and a pretty hefty amount of cash to go along with the bragging rights as the fastest street racer, Brandon got an invite to join the rest of the Street Outlaws gang in the No Prep Kings Championship, where he can show the rest of the guys that him winning an event was not a one-time deal. In the past few seasons of the No Prep Kings Championship, he managed to get to the finals and raced against Jerry Bird, however, he did not manage to win the entire event and put his hands on the $40,000 grand prize. Street Outlaws star Mike Murillo had double knee replacement surgery on Thursday, February 9th. The operation happened at Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio in Texas. It is not clear how long Murillo will be out with this operation. Knee caps feel like they’re being pryed off by a top of the line pry bar from Harbor Freight” On June 2nd, the new Street Outlaws No Prep Kings season will begin at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio. The two-day event will conclude on June 3rd. Following the National Trail Raceway event, the No Prep Kings racers will be on the road for four additional weeks before a potential break comes. The Street Outlaws No Prep Kings will be making a four-week filming trip to Australia later this month and in March. This is why the No Prep Kings US season is pushed back to June.

Automotive enthusiasts come in all shapes and sizes, and their tastes in cars vary as much as they do. On today’s episode of things you’re not likely to ever see, we have two vehicles matched in a roll race that are polar opposites in almost every way. One of Europe’s finest Italian supercars versus the “Fire Donk,” a 1974 Caprice convertible that would typically never be described using words like high-performance, fast, or powerful. Until now, that is. Photo by That Racing Channel What Ellington has never done, though, in his long and illustrious street racing career, is roll race. Even though roll racing and dig racing seem incredibly similar as they both take place in the streets and sometimes even involve the same cars, the nuances make these two different forms of competition incredibly different in nature. Photo by That Racing Channel The “Fire Donk,” is no ordinary custom Caprice. But don’t let its show-car appearance fool you. It has plenty of race car tech hidden under its large-by-huge body. For starters, its chassis is set up similarly to Shawn’s other race cars. It has an adjustable four-link rear suspension with QA1 coilovers, and up front are tubular upper and lower control arms with coilovers, also from QA1. For motivation, the Fire Donk uses a Texas Speed and Performance-built LSX 427 with a 98mm Precision turbo, a Rossler TH400, and a Quick Performance rearend. Everything you expect to see on any other race car is found here. This combination is capable of 2,000 horsepower, and according to Shawn in this video, it’s currently making approximately 1,400 horsepower. The 2017 Lamborghini Aventador SV, owned by Felipe Resende, quintessentially represents everything a 1974 Caprice is not. Every part of the SV is built for high performance, speed, and handling. Even its name, Super Veloce, means Super Fast. From its aluminum and carbon fiber construction to its 750-horsepower V12 engine and all-wheel-drive system, the Aventador SV is intended for one purpose, and that is being driven at its limits. This particular example even features a couple of modifications in the form of an aftermarket exhaust and tune. Photo by That Racing Channel Fortunately for Ellington, his sneaky sleeper has quite a bit of power on tap itself. In fact, when operating at 25 psi of boost, the car is able to crank out 1400 hp. However, the fact that it’s as aerodynamic as a brick and features a set of huge wheels that certainly aren’t helping traction both contribute to the fact that maybe the Lamborghini has a chance. Photo by Kye Kelley Racing On an interview with Street Outlaws Stat Guy on February 14, Kye Kelley confirmed all the information we had before: he is going to a screw blower and it’s going to be a Noonan Hemi in the new NPK Shocker that he debuted last year. Kelley reportedly felt that the Pat Musi 959 power engine he had been using was holding him back in winning the championship, as it was too heavy and not powerful enough to compete against other engines. With the new Noonan Hemi engine, which is expected to be the 4-9 version, Kelley will be able to produce significantly more power, which will give him a competitive edge. In order to cash in on the Gas Monkey logo and name, Rawlings licensed the trademark to a Gas Monkey-themed bar and grill. Unfortunately, the relationship between Rawlings and Gas Monkey Bar and Grill has been anything but smooth.
