The bottom line is that I can’t stand up there and defend rules and decisions that I had no part of. And don’t agree with it, especially with a group of guys, who take it as seriously as we do. That’s the other flip side of the coin. While I know the rules and decisions that I am defending may not be my own and may not agree with them, it’s for a bigger cause, which is the TV show. As you may know, Street Outlaws star Kye Kelley’s beloved Shocker – a third-generation Camaro ended up going down in a blaze of glory. This is because the car was involved in a nasty accident during a street test session as driven by one of Kelley’s friends. Fortunately, everybody did end up walking away from the incident. On Kelley’s Youtube channel, he told us the story of what exactly it was that happened to the car and how it got all wadded up. It would seem that Kelley wanted to lend the car to his friend to help with a racing effort. However, when push came to shove, the transition of drivers didn’t exactly go as easy as Kelley thought they would go. According to Kelley, the Shocker is a total loss but he doesn’t blame the driver for the situation. Photos by Kye Kelley Youtube Early this month “Street Outlaws” star Kye Kelley revealed his new purpose-built “No Prep Kings” Chevrolet Camaro, which was finished by Larry Jeffers Race Cars and powered by a Pat Musi 959 cubic-inch nitrous mill along with a Mark Micke TH400 transmission. The car is a replacement of sorts to the original “Shocker,” and will likewise take over starting-lineup duties in place of the later-model Camaro, “Aftershock,” that he’s been campaigning with considerable success. The new black-on-black “Shocker” rolled out of Jeffers’ shop at the most opportune of times, as the “No Prep Kings” circuit now has a much-needed seven-week hiatus. This will allow Kye and the Musi camp time to test and prepare for a run at the title against Ryan Martin and the rest of the top hitters in the series over the final seven races, which resume in Tulsa on August 12. Kye Kelley, a star of the "Street Outlaws No Prep Kings" series, revealed his new car for the 2023 campaign this week, adding to the already extensive variety of automobile makes and models in the series. The new car is a triple-black Buick Regal dubbed "JangAlang," and it's built by Wizard Race Cars in Holden, Louisiana. It marks a departure from Kelley's traditional third- and sixth-generation Camaros carrying the "Shocker" name, which he has campaigned since first bursting onto the "Street Outlaws" scene in 2015. While Kelley previously built and raced an '87 Regal named "Claude Banks" on the "Street Outlaws: End Game" show, "JangAlang" is the first Buick Regal to make an appearance in the NPK series. Cash Days was a 12 driver free-for-all, $1,000 buy-in with one winner of a $12,000 pot. It was grueling, tense and pushed the limits of all drivers and cars. It was an exciting event to watch and surely more exciting to race in. Cash Days is a yearly event that BoostedGT throws down in Texas and invites out some of the fastest drivers in the country. Obviously a few of the 405 OKC boys had to be there. If you’ve followed Big Chief and his channel, you must have seen his video that he was testing for a cash day race. It’s basically the crow’s return to street racing and it’s illegal real street cash day. After 5 years since the last filming of Street Outlaws real deal cash days on December 2015, they have been back with interesting illegal races. During the America’s list racers have proven they’re willing to do whatever it takes to become the drivers who can go down any road, anywhere, anytime. First of all, we would like to congratulate the winner Ryan Martin, who showed that he and Javy are the people to beat on the streets of America, no matter where and when you line up against them on the streets. In addition to JJ Da Boss, we cannot forget the success of Axman who had the best winning ratio out of all the racers and managed to climb all the way to the top 5. Photo by Discovery Channel Kye Kelley is the next racer that deserves credit, because, after a terrible start that included David Gates totaling the Shocker and leaving Kye without a race car, he managed to get his NPK car Aftershock to the racing location and slap Lizzy’s spare motor and still finished third, using the races as a shakedown for the brand-new combo that emerged from the crash. So what did all this incredible drama mean for the ratings of the show? Well, to be honest, we were expecting a rise in ratings and views of the show, but it appears that unfortunately, the show had a smaller impact on the public and the viewers than last season. As you can see the table here, the ratings were pretty good started from 911,000 and 946,000 then the third episode, the third weekend, they hit over one million viewers. The show also did it second time in week seven where they actually had their highest ratings for an episode with 1.041,000 total viewers. Those numbers are definitely mind-blowing. Almost every single episode was within the seven hundred thousand range for the viewers. A lot of people have been saying America’s List is going to get canceled because the view is being lower. However, looking at the total views of season 2 and its rank overall the shows on TV, Street Outlaws America’s List is still in the top 50 TV Shows, there’s no mean that it’s going to get canceled. Furthermore, the show, the big tire cars, the out-of-town guys besides the 405 guys have got the big name on the street racing, so there is no reason for them to step away from that show. Mallory Gulley, also known as "Money Girl," was a regular participant on the racing show Street Outlaws, driving her purple '64 Chevrolet. However, she has not been seen on the show since 2020, leaving viewers wondering about her whereabouts. Mallory Gulley’s Dad Accused In Street Outlaws Lawsuit In September 2018, Kenneth Gulley and JJ da Boss faced allegations in a lawsuit where Genny Larkin and Chad sued the Discovery Channel, claiming that Mallory's father and JJ assaulted them during filming. The lawsuit alleged that Kenneth and the other defendant chased Larkin and physically attacked him by throwing punches. Day and ‘Bounty Hunter’ threw punches at Larkin and tackled him to the ground," the lawsuit read. "As Larkin went down, he felt immediate pain in his leg, as though his ‘muscles and tendons were ripping.’ At that point Larkin was on his back with his face exposed. The Bounty Hunter and Day continued the assault, punching Larkin in the face repeatedly and kicking him in the ribs.” The suit adds, “As the assault continued, Larkin literally believed the Street Outlaws were attempting to kill him. He literally feared for his life.” The lawsuit claims that the producers of the show did not take any action to prevent the alleged assault. “Rather, the camera crew and producers continued filming. Justin Shearer, indisputably the face of the “Street Outlaws” franchise since its debut on Discovery nearly a decade ago, has been outspoken in recent months about his desire to stick to his simple street racing roots, and to do things his way. Putting those words into action, he chose not to participate in the recent season of “America’s List” because he did not agree with the rules for the taping of Street Outlaws America’s List. And so, on the same weekend his Oklahoma City racing peers were in Mohnton, Pennsylvania competing with all the glitz of the “No Prep Kings” series, fans of speed saw Shearer and girlfriend, Jackie Braasch, were competing at one of the nation’s least-known drag strips. Big Chief’s 1970 Pontiac GTO, the “Crow” Justin “Big Chief” Shearer scored a popular victory in his first no-prep appearance of the season at Brown County Dragway’s “War In The Woods” event Sunday afternoon. Shearer, driving his familiar 1970 Pontiac GTO, the “Crow” outlasted a host of big-tire challengers over the course of two days of rain-hampered eliminations, ultimately defeating Tim Bailey and his “Krusty” turbocharged C-10 pickup in the final. Shearer had been eyeing and preparing for War In The Woods, put on annually by Jeff Thomas at Brown County Raceway. In fact, he specifically asked to be treated the same as everyone else. Dude just wanted to come race and get back to where it all started! I think it’s great for the sport in general and the fans!! Anyone who questioned if he would get down Brown County Dragway well now you know!! Lol. For everyone who says it’s so dangerous and you can’t get stopped on the big end this should clear that up!! “There was an issue first round in big tire when big chief raced Kerry in the black widow. Chief started his burnout and was told to stop by a track worker so chip draw could be finished. This was 100% a miscommunication mistake which I take full responsibility for! At any rate they pushed chief back and it was hot as hell, he took his helmet off and was waiting and then track workers said fire ‘em up. Chief didn’t have his helmet on and it took a min for him to get ready and Kerry had already fired up and was doing his burnout. This was just bad communication on our end and due to some problems with walkie talkies. We will learn from this and it won’t happen again!! In no way was big chief trying to burn down Kerry. Thought it would be better to address this and move on! This is legit exactly what happened!!” Justin Shearer previously said that he would only come back to the show for the 405 show. “I’m pretty much here,” he said late in the appearance. “I’m pretty much doing my own thing. The 405 show would be the only way if it was something different. That one means so much but it only means so much if it’s the same thing. If it’s not then it doesn’t mean sh*t to me.”

Discussions regarding various ideas can continue for hours on end in the street and grudge racing community. Regardless of the correctness of an argument or situation, these types of races tend to keep the argument alive by bending the situation in one person’s favor. This is because everyone is trying to gain a competitive advantage through a little bit of hustling. If one does not take part in this game, they may end up on the receiving end of somebody else’s hustle. The balance between competition and hustling is what draws people to entertainment offered up on platforms like Street Outlaws. Street racing involves many variables, and there is always room for argument. However, on a race track, timing systems make it harder to argue. Leaving the starting line on time seems like something that does not leave room for argument since the sensors do not lie. But, do they? However, an argument can be made because the Shocker Chevrolet Camaro appeared to be stationary until after the light turned green. In racing, where even inches matter, it is possible that the Camaro was staged too close to the beams beyond what a human eye could perceive, or maybe the timing system had an error because even machines are not perfect.
