After selling his Chevelle, Monza’s attention has shifted back to the iconic Camaro that we’ve seen in action for many years on Street Outlaws  and No Prep Kings (NPK) . However, it struggled to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving world of NPK. But things are about to change as Monza is taking major steps to bring the Camaro back to life with some serious upgrades. Why the Resurrection? Monza’s Chevelle was a beast, but it’s clear that he missed the raw potential of the split bumper. The car, originally powered by a twin-turbo 41X engine, couldn’t keep up with the power levels seen in the more recent seasons of NPK . Although it could run in the threes (3-second 1/8 mile passes), the setup just didn’t quite match the competition's heavy hitters. In 2020 and 2021, Monza held the number one spot on Street Outlaws  with his son, Youngblood, helping tune the car. The split bumper was built for the street, but it was never quite optimized for track domination—until now. The complete new front half of the car will allow the engine to be moved back, improving the weight distribution and overall handling. The goal? Some speculated that a falling out with fellow cast member Precious Cooper might have played a role. However, Big Chief later addressed the issue himself, clearing up the rumors. In a candid video on his YouTube channel, Midwest Street Cars, he explained that his decision to leave was mostly due to creative differences. He felt the show was drifting too far from its original focus on real street racing and becoming overly dramatized, which didn’t sit well with him. While his love for street racing hasn’t changed, he wanted the show to stay authentic, which was no longer the case in his eyes. Life After Street Outlaws Since his departure, Big Chief has focused on his own projects, particularly his business, Midwest Street Cars, and his YouTube channel, where he shares updates on his street racing adventures. His channel has become a go-to spot for fans eager to stay connected with his latest endeavors. Outside of social media, he’s still very much involved in the racing scene, continuing to race and fine-tune his famous car, The Crow , in the Oklahoma 405 racing circuit. Today, we’re diving into the current NPK Championship points standings after the Las Vegas race. As we approach the final stretch of the season, the competition is getting tighter than ever, and the battle for the top spots is nothing short of intense! But right on his tail is JPA Gentile, who has been keeping the pressure on. While Murder Nova’s consistency has been a huge factor, it’s anyone’s game as we approach the critical races ahead. Justin Swanstrom’s Impressive Comeback One of the big stories from Las Vegas was Justin Swanstrom’s second win of the season. Justin and his team, including his dad Cory Swanstrom, have figured out how to dial in their car, “Bad Blood,” on tricky tracks. The Las Vegas track was no easy feat, with challenging conditions that tested every racer. Despite that, Justin managed to drive his way to the finals and took a decisive victory over Kayla Morton, who also put in an impressive performance. Today, we’ve got some exciting news that’s been making waves in the Street Outlaws community— street racing could be coming back this December 2024! Photo by Radical Speed The Return to the Streets There’s been a lot of buzz lately, and the rumor mill is working overtime, but it seems like the return of street racing is more than just a whisper. Jeff Lutz, one of the legends in the Street Outlaws world, mentioned in a recent interview that the crew might be hitting the streets again by the end of the year. And let’s be real, if Lutz is talking about it, there’s a good chance it’s happening! From what we’re hearing, the filming is expected to kick off in December 2024, right after No Prep Kings (NPK)  wraps up in late October. This gives racers a solid window to get their street cars prepped and ready for action. But here’s the kicker—this time, it’s likely going to be small tire racing . Why Small Tire? If you’ve been keeping up with the scene, you’ll know that big tire street racing  is becoming a thing of the past. Back when Street Outlaws first started, the fastest cars were running around 4.70 to 4.80 seconds on a big tire on the streets. Fast forward to today, and some racers are clocking 4.20s or better. In fact, in 2021 and 2022, we saw cars like Ryan Martin’s and even Lutz’s pulling off 4.10s on the street, which is just insane. Photo by Radical Speed And with that much speed comes danger. We’ve seen some nasty accidents in recent years, even on small tires. Tragically, someone lost their life during the filming of Fastest in America  in 2022, which was a huge wake-up call for everyone. Safety is always a concern, and it seems like moving to small tire racing  is a way to keep the thrill while minimizing the risk. Will Small Tire Be as Cool as Big Tire? This is the big debate. While small tire racing has a ton of competition and can still be ridiculously fast, there’s something about those big tire beasts  that just gets the adrenaline pumping. The last big tire street race we saw was back during the pandemic in 2020 with Mega Cash Days . It was pure madness, and many fans, myself included, miss that level of intensity. The most recent street racing show we got was Mega Cash Days  in December 2022, but it was all on small tires. While it was a solid season, it just didn’t have the same magic as those big tire races. But, that doesn’t mean small tire racing isn’t exciting—it’s just a different kind of race. It’s more technical, with tighter margins for error, and in some ways, that makes it even more competitive. What About America's List? One show that a lot of us here at Street Outlaws Talks  would love to see come back is America’s List . That was hands down one of the best shows in recent memory. The competition was fierce, the drama was real, and the racing was top-notch. With the potential return to street racing, we can only hope that something like America’s List makes its way back to our screens. Fingers crossed!
