The Points Battle: Who's On the Bubble?

As we look at the current standings, it’s clear that positions 19 through 10 are incredibly tight. Just a few points separate the racers in this group, which means every round counts in the remaining races. Let’s check out the drivers battling to lock in their spot in the Elite 16:

  • Nate Sayler – One of the fastest guys out there. Nate’s car has been a serious contender this season. While he’s sitting just outside the top 16 right now, he has the potential to win an event and punch his ticket into the finals.

  • Daddy Dave – A name that’s always in the conversation. He’s had a few ups and downs this season, but with his experience, you can never count Daddy Dave out.

  • Jimmy Taylor and Birdman Finney – Both racers are right in the mix. Birdman, especially, has been around the block in the NPK series, and you know he’s gunning for a spot in the final 16.

  • Jim Howe – He’s had a rollercoaster season, but when Jim is dialed in, he can take out just about anyone.

  • Chris Rankin – After bringing a new car into the mix, Chris has been making waves. He’s fast, and if he can put together a few consistent performances, he could definitely break into the Elite 16.

  • Jerry Bird – Jerry’s had some strong moments this season. He’s another driver with the potential to make a late push.

  • Jeff Lutz, Kayla Morton, Bobby Ducote – These racers have all been in the hunt but need to find consistency to secure their spots. Kayla Morton, in particular, has shown she’s got the speed, but she’ll need to string together some good finishes.

The Key to Success: Consistency

There’s one thing holding back many of these racers: consistency. All of them have fast cars, and they’ve shown they can win races. But to make the Elite 16, they need to put it all together in the final stretch of the season. Whether it’s mechanical issues, penalties, or just bad luck, a lot of these drivers haven’t been able to deliver week after week.

With only a couple of races left, consistency is more important than ever. Even drivers who are currently sitting in the top 10 could drop out of the Elite 16 if they stumble in the next events. The pressure is on, and these racers can’t afford any mistakes.

Fast Cars Outside the Top 16

There are a few racers outside the top 16 who have the ability to shake things up. Nate Sayler is definitely one of them. With his speed and experience, Nate could easily win an event and jump into the Elite 16. The same goes for Jim Howe and Chris Rankin, both of whom have shown they have what it takes to win on any given weekend. It’s all about putting together the right performances at the right time.

Critical Races Ahead

The next two events are going to be absolutely crucial. Las Vegas and Michigan are on the schedule, and both tracks present unique challenges. In Las Vegas, the air density will be a factor—at around 5,500 feet, the cars won’t be running as fast as they typically do. However, with good track prep, we can still expect some exciting racing.

Michigan, on the other hand, will have much better air, and the track surface is known to be top-notch. This could be where some of the bubble racers make their big move. If you’re sitting on the edge of the top 16, Michigan might be your last, best chance to break through.

Can Doc Make the Cut?

Let’s not forget about Doc, who’s currently a bit further down the standings but has been improving as the season progresses. Doc recently made some significant upgrades to his car, shedding a lot of weight, which could give him the edge he needs. While it’s going to be tough for him to break into the Elite 16, his recent performances suggest that he’s not out of it yet. We’d love to see Doc make a surprise run to the finals!

The Final Push

As we get closer to the final races of No Prep Kings Season 7, the battle for the Elite 16 is tighter than ever. The next two events will be pivotal for many racers, with spots 19 through 10 being especially vulnerable. The racers on the bubble have the speed, but it will come down to execution. Whether you’re rooting for Nate Sayler, Birdman Finney, Kayla Morton, or any of the other talented drivers, one thing is for sure—the action is going to be intense!
