If you've been following the No Prep Kings (NPK) scene, you know that Mike has been noticeably absent for over a year, and many of us have been wondering how he’s been doing. Mike Murillo's Health Update
For those who may not know, Mike Murillo, the Season 2 No Prep Kings champion and a legendary drag racer with an impressive collection of over 15 World Championships, has been battling cancer. It's been a tough road for Mike, but we're thrilled to report that he seems to be doing much better! According to a recent post on his Facebook page, Mike is in better health, and that’s something we can all celebrate. We’re sending all our positive vibes and prayers his way for continued recovery and strength.
Back Behind the Wheel
Even though Mike has been focusing on his health, his passion for racing hasn’t faded one bit. A few months ago, he got back behind the wheel of his trusty Mustang at a benefit no prep race. It was great to see him racing again, even if it was just for fun and charity. Watching him in action reminded us all why he’s such a revered figure in the racing community. His absence has definitely been felt on the NPK circuit, and fans everywhere are eager to see him back on the track where he belongs.

A New Car on the Horizon?
Now, onto some even more exciting news—Mike might be working on a brand-new car! He recently posted a photo on his Facebook page of a beautifully built chassis, sparking rumors that he could be planning a return to NPK with a new ride. Before his health issues, Mike was already planning to build a new NPK car, an S550 Mustang equipped with twin turbos. At one point, he even mentioned possibly going with a ProCharger setup.
It’s not entirely clear if those plans are still on track, but one thing's for sure: if Mike does decide to build a new car, it’s going to be incredible. His current Mustang, while fast and heavily updated, isn’t a purpose-built NPK car. With the competition getting fiercer each season, having a car specifically designed for no prep surfaces could make all the difference.
The Future of Mike Murillo in NPK
We all know that Mike is a fierce competitor who gives everything he’s got on the track. If he does make a comeback next year, whether with his current car or a brand-new one, we can be sure he’ll be a force to be reckoned with. There’s no doubt that the NPK circuit has missed his presence, but more importantly, we want him to come back fully healthy and stronger than ever.
