After a year and a half of waiting, fans and racers alike were thrilled to witness the YETI Chevelle making its first test passes on the track. For those who have been following this journey closely, this is a significant milestone. It’s clear that this car has been carefully and meticulously prepared for the upcoming No Prep Kings (NPK) season.

A Closer Look at the YETI Chevelle

This beast of a car isn’t just any Chevelle—it’s a testament to top-tier craftsmanship and cutting-edge racing technology. Under the hood, it boasts a potent ProLine Racing MH7 Hemi engine, paired with a ProCharger 1401, ensuring it has the power and speed to compete with the best in the NPK series. The chassis, built by Cameron Johnson Race Cars, is known for its exceptional performance, especially in no-prep conditions, making this car a serious contender.

It’s no secret that ProLine Hemi engines have dominated the NPK scene this season, with a staggering number of races won by cars running similar setups. In fact, out of twelve races, eight have been clinched by ProCharger setups, showcasing their prowess on the track. This gives us high hopes for the YETI Chevelle’s performance in the upcoming season.

Testing in Action

Chevy Reeves, who will be piloting the YETI Chevelle, has shared some sneak peeks of the car making passes on his Facebook page, "Hella Chevy." From what we’ve seen so far, the car is looking incredibly strong, with a smooth and powerful run down the track. Early tests suggest that it’s already reaching times in the 3-second range, which is impressive considering they’re just getting started.

It’s not uncommon for a new car to take some time to get sorted out, but with this kind of early performance, it’s clear that the YETI Chevelle has the potential to be a major player in NPK Season 8. Chevy and his team have several months of testing ahead, giving them plenty of time to fine-tune the setup and ensure everything is dialed in for the first race.

Young Guns on the Rise

One of the most exciting aspects of the NPK series is seeing new, young talent stepping up to the challenge. Chevy Reeves joins a growing list of young racers, like Paige Coughlin and Nicole Pesce, who have been making waves in the series recently. It’s refreshing to see the next generation of drivers bringing their passion and skill to the track, and we’re excited to see what Chevy can do behind the wheel of the YETI Chevelle.
