Spotlight on Cody Sanders’ Eleanor Mustang

One of the most talked-about cars heading to the US Street Nationals is Cody Sanders’ Eleanor Mustang. This stunning machine is a crowd favorite on the No Prep Kings (NPK) circuit, and it’s easy to see why. The Eleanor Mustang combines jaw-dropping aesthetics with raw power, making it one of the standout vehicles in any race it enters.

Under the hood, this beast is powered by a PJs 49X motor—a screw-blower combination that’s currently holding the supercharger record at the FuelTech dyno. The Eleanor Mustang has proven its capabilities, running an impressive 3.69-second pass in less-than-ideal conditions (3,500 feet of air and high water grains). With the promise of better air at the US Street Nationals, fans can expect even faster times.

NPK Cars vs. Pro Mods: The Challenges

While NPK cars like the Eleanor Mustang and Kye Kelley’s Camaro Pro Mod are incredibly fast, they face unique challenges when competing against traditional Pro Mods. One of the biggest hurdles is weight. Pro Mods can get down to 2,650-2,675 pounds, but NPK cars, due to their heavier bodies, struggle to match that. Cody Sanders’ Mustang, for instance, may not hit those ultra-light weights but is expected to come close.

Another factor is wheelbase. Pro Mods are designed with longer wheelbases for better stability at high speeds, whereas NPK cars have shorter wheelbases, making them more challenging to control on the track. Despite these differences, the Eleanor Mustang has shown that it can hold its own against top-tier Pro Mods. It debuted on the NPK circuit with minimal testing and immediately proved its potential by running alongside heavy hitters like Ryan Martin.

Kye Kelley and the Competition

At the recent Snowbird Nationals, Kye Kelley made a statement by dominating with his NPK car. While Cody Sanders and the Eleanor Mustang faced some challenges with his ‘69 Camaro Pro Mod and didn’t qualify, the Mustang’s performance remains a highlight. As we look ahead to the US Street Nationals, the question is: can these NPK cars compete at the highest level against the Pro Mods?

What to Expect at the US Street Nationals

With heavyweights like Cody Sanders and Kye Kelley entering the fray, the US Street Nationals promises to deliver unmatched action. These drivers are pushing the boundaries of what NPK cars can achieve, and the results are nothing short of spectacular. Whether it’s Cody’s Eleanor Mustang, Ron Roberts’ impressive performance in his NPK car at the Snowbird Nationals, or Kye Kelley’s continued dominance, fans are in for a treat.
