With 22 cars participating, we're 10 cars short compared to last season's Invitational field. This means 11 racers will automatically move into the winner's bracket for tomorrow. Of the 11 racers who lose in this qualifying round, five will get a chance to compete in the winner's bracket tomorrow through a race-off, ensuring a 16-car winner's bracket field.

Points System and Brackets

The points system remains crucial for the racers. Here's how it works:

  • Winner's Bracket:

10 points for entering.

Additional 10 points for each round won.

A total of 50 points for winning the bracket.

  • Loser's Bracket:

5 points for entering.

Additional 5 points for each round won.

A total of 25 points for winning the bracket.

However, since we don't have a 16-car loser's bracket, it will be interesting to see how the organizers handle this. Last week, they made adjustments, and we might see something similar this week.

Track Conditions

The track conditions at Empire Dragway present their own set of challenges. Here’s a quick rundown:

  • Air Quality: Good

  • Water Grains: High

  • Density Altitude (DA): Around 2500 feet

These conditions mean boosted cars and nitrous cars will perform well, but the turbo cars might face some difficulties. The track itself appears a bit sketchy, so the first and second rounds of Grudge races will be crucial in determining how the cars adapt.
