If you’ve been following our updates, you might remember a few months ago we hinted at Robin’s plans to build a new Pro Mod car. Well, the wait is over, and the car is finally finished. Spoiler alert: It looks absolutely incredible!

A Closer Look at the Build

The new Pro Mod is a Firebird with a ProCharger HEMI setup. It’s painted in the same stunning color scheme Robin’s NPK car is known for, complete with wide stripes that perfectly complement the bold look of the vehicle. The attention to detail is remarkable, and the car’s visual appeal alone makes it a standout in any lineup.

What’s even more interesting is Robin’s decision to stick with a ProCharger setup for this build. Many fans, including us, expected him to switch to a twin-turbo configuration, especially considering his previous experience running twin turbos on his NPK car a couple of years ago. Twin turbos are undeniably competitive in the Pro Mod scene, but ProChargers have proven they can hold their own against screw blowers and turbo setups under the current rules.

Performance Expectations

Robin’s crew chief and tuner, Allen, is a master at extracting every ounce of performance from these machines. If anyone can dial in this car to compete at the highest level, it’s Allen. ProChargers have shown they’re capable of top-five and even top-three qualifying positions in the Pro Mod class, and Robin’s team is well-equipped to make it happen.

Robin has already tested the waters with his NPK car at the Snowbird Nationals, where he ran an impressive 3.72-second pass. However, that car was significantly overweight for Pro Mod rules, which meant it wasn’t quite competitive against the field. The new Firebird, built specifically for Pro Mod, is expected to deliver much faster times. With the US Street Nationals and the World Series of Pro Mod just around the corner, the timing couldn’t be better.

The Competition Heats Up

To be competitive in the Pro Mod world, a car needs to run in the low 3.60s or even faster. At the Snowbird Nationals, the bump spot was a blistering 3.64 seconds, and the competition is only getting fiercer. If the weather holds up, as it often does for these events, we’re likely to see even quicker bump spots at the upcoming US Street Nationals.

Robin’s consistency in NPK racing has been a hallmark of his success, and that same consistency will be crucial in the Pro Mod scene. Last season, his NPK car was one of the most reliable in the field, consistently running in the low 3.70s. Translating that level of performance to his new Pro Mod build is the next challenge, and we can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.

What’s Next for Robin Roberts?

With his new Pro Mod ready to hit the track, Robin Roberts is poised to make a serious impact in the Pro Mod world. The car looks phenomenal, the team has the expertise, and the ProCharger setup is more than capable of competing with the best. All eyes will be on Robin as he takes on some of the fastest cars in the sport at the upcoming events.
