Well, things are heating up fast in the world of Pro Mod racing, and guess who's making big moves? That’s right—Murder Nova, a.k.a. Shawn Ellington, is back behind the wheel and turning heads as he dials in Keith Haney’s beast of a blue Pro Mod.

If you've been keeping up with us here at Street Outlaws Talks, you already know that Shawn’s no stranger to going fast. But what he’s doing with this twin-turbo rocket might just be some of his best work yet.

Dialing in the Blue Beast

Shawn's been piloting Haney’s blue Pro Mod at a few events already—first at the U.S. Street Nationals, then at the WRazr Pro Mod Shootout, and now he's locked and loaded for this weekend’s Midwest Drag Racing Series season opener.

Just this week, he took the car out for testing, and the results were impressive right off the trailer. First pass? 3.73 seconds. Then, in the cooler night air, he laid down a 3.66 at 218 mph—and keep in mind, that was in 2,800 feet of air. That’s not exactly ideal racing conditions, so just imagine what this car can do when the air is right.

Back at the WRazr Pro Mod, Shawn ran a 3.65 in killer conditions, so this recent test shows the consistency is there—even when the track or weather isn't perfect. That’s a huge deal when it comes to dialing in a Pro Mod for competition.

The Twin Turbo Legacy

Long-time fans know Shawn’s been a turbo guy for years. From the OG Murder Nova on the street to his previous No Prep Kings setup, he's had a solid history with twin-turbo combinations. The NPK Murder Nova went as fast as 202 mph, but this new Pro Mod setup has already topped that. At the World Street Pro Mod event, he clocked in at 219 mph, and now he’s knocking on the door of 220+ mph. That’s serious speed.

And with the way this car is responding, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him go 221 or faster soon. The power is there, and the consistency is starting to show. With a little more fine-tuning, Shawn could be a serious threat not just at this weekend’s race, but all season long.

Eyes on the Prize

As we look ahead to the rest of the season—and especially the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod—Murder Nova is clearly setting himself up for something big. If he keeps progressing like this, he’ll be a name to watch not just in the Street Outlaws universe, but across the broader Pro Mod scene.

Let’s not forget what happened last December—Kye Kelley shocked everyone by winning the Snowbird Nationals, and now Shawn might just be following that same path. We’d love to see him take home a W. It’s been a wild ride watching these Street Outlaws guys step up and run with the best in the Pro Mod world, and it’s only getting better from here.

So if you’re a fan of fast cars, hard work, and killer racing—stay locked in with us here at Street Outlaws Talks. We’ve got your back with all the latest updates, stories, and behind-the-scenes coverage from the world of street-style drag racing.
