Hey everyone! Welcome to Street Outlaws Talks, your go-to place for all things Street Outlaws and No Prep Kings. Today, we’re diving into some major news coming out of the Murder Nova camp. It looks like Shawn and the Murder Nova crew are facing some serious engine trouble just days before the big race in Alabama. This could be a make-or-break moment in the hunt for the No Prep Kings Elite Championship.

Recently, Shawn and the Murder Nova team posted some pretty concerning photos on their official Facebook page, revealing the damage to two of the engine sleeves from their prime racing engine. One of the sleeves is completely destroyed, and from what we can tell, it’s a significant setback. The damage to the block is a huge issue, and it’s something that needs to be addressed fast if they want to stay in the running for the championship.
For those of you unfamiliar with engine sleeves, they're the cylindrical linings that protect the engine's block from the intense pressure generated by the pistons. Normally, a piston would have to seriously mess up to cause this kind of damage, but in this case, the piston itself seems fine. It’s pretty rare to see damage like this, and it caught a lot of people off guard, including the Murder Nova crew.
Time Is Running Out for Alabama
With the No Prep Kings Elite Championship race in Alabama just around the corner, the clock is ticking for Shawn and his crew to get the car back in racing shape. They’re currently working around the clock to repair the block and replace the damaged sleeves, but it’s going to be a tough challenge to get everything ready in time.

What makes this situation even more stressful is that the Murder Nova team doesn’t have a spare engine block. While some of the bigger teams have the luxury of spare engines and blocks, Shawn and his team don’t. They do have spare heads, but when it comes to the heart of the engine, they’re working with what they’ve got. They’ve been pushing to upgrade their old OG motor, which is an MH5, to the newer MH7. Unfortunately, that upgrade won’t work for the NPK car right now, so they’re putting all their energy into getting the current engine fixed up.
The Race for the Championship Is Tight
Despite the engine damage, Shawn is in an amazing spot in the points standings. Right now, he’s sitting at number two, just five points behind the leader, Clay Cole. It’s a tight race, and even though Shawn lost the number one spot, he’s still within striking distance of the championship. Considering how hard he’s worked in the last few seasons—struggling in seasons 4 and 5 but picking up speed in season 6—he’s definitely earned his shot at the title.
Shawn’s determination and passion for racing have always been a driving force behind the Murder Nova team’s success, and it shows in the fact that they ended the regular season at number one. Now, it’s all about making sure the car is ready to go for Alabama, one of the fastest tracks on the No Prep Kings circuit. If they can pull everything together in time, Shawn could very well be on his way to claiming the No Prep Kings Elite Championship.
Support from the Racing Community
One of the coolest things about the Street Outlaws community is how supportive the racers are of each other. After news of the engine damage broke, several other racers, including Bobby Cottrell, offered to lend Shawn an engine. However, it seems like the Murder Nova team is laser-focused on getting their own MH7 motor up and running. While it’s great to see that kind of camaraderie in the racing world, it’s clear that Shawn wants to win with his own setup, and we respect that.

Can the Murder Nova Crew Pull It Off?
It’s going to be a tough weekend for the Murder Nova team, but if anyone can pull off a miracle, it’s Shawn and his crew. They’ve overcome challenges before, and with just five points separating them from the top spot, you can bet they’ll do everything they can to be ready for the Alabama race. We’re all rooting for them, and hopefully, we’ll see them back on the track and chasing that championship.
