Murillo said that he began feeling sick again last June while the No Prep Kings were competing at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota. He had to go to the emergency room on the following Houston race.
In his video, he said that he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart on June 29th. This enlarged heart was causing problems with his lungs. On July 22nd, he went in for a cat scan. The results showed a mass on his lung. He said that the doctors believed that the mass on his lung had to be there when he battled Covid in January 2021.
“During that time, there was no reason for them to order anything else,” he said in the video. He added doctors drained 16 ounces of fluid off of his heart. Then on August 15th, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer.
“Either you fight or flight,” he said “after 24 hours, I decided that I was going to fight this. Treatment have been scheduled.”
This is not a good news for racing community since Murillo has just suffered double knee replacement surgery in the beginning of February. However, he still keeps a positive attitude and upbeat mindset for continued healing. People is calling him an absolute inspiration and sending lots of prayers.
