Hello everyone, welcome back to Street Outlaws Talk! Today, we have some exciting news for all you No Prep Kings fans out there. Larry Larson has been a formidable force in drag racing for many years. Many of you might remember his iconic Chevy II that dominated Drag Week, winning an impressive six years in a row. That car, with its distinctive paint job, was a legend in its own right, running 6-second quarter miles with a heavy, all-steel, twin-turbo setup.

However, times have changed, and the demands of NPK racing have led Larry to build a purpose-built NPK car. While this new Chevy II looks similar to his old Drag Week car, it’s a completely different beast under the hood. Designed specifically for the No Prep Kings series, this car is lighter, faster, and more competitive.

Over the years, Larry has experimented with various setups, including his controversial S10 truck and the Cadillac that he ran for many seasons. The Cadillac, which started with a single turbo and later switched to a ProCharger, proved to be a strong contender in the NPK series. Despite being overweight for the ProCharger rules last season, Larry’s skill and the car’s performance kept them in the race.

This new Chevy II, however, is built to fit perfectly within the current NPK rules. It’s expected to run at 2750 pounds with a 140 S1 ProCharger, a combination that should make it a formidable competitor on the track. Larry has been seen at several NPK events this season, supporting the series and getting ready to unleash his new machine.

There are still eight more points races left this season, and while it’s uncertain if Larry will make it to the next race, there's a good chance we’ll see him competing soon. With the car now mostly finished, it’s all about wiring, testing, and fine-tuning to get it race-ready.

The competition in NPK is fierce, with a highly competitive field where anyone can win on any given day. Last season, we saw full fields regularly, but this season has been different. Despite this, the main event remains extremely competitive with a 16-car field. The addition of Larry’s new Chevy II will undoubtedly add another level of excitement and competition.
