Over the weekend, Kye Kelley’s Janglang Buick took a serious hit during Big Jake Promotions’ No Time 275 shootout. The incident occurred after he won his first-round race but ran into trouble when his parachutes failed, sending the car into a field and causing significant damage.
The Aftermath of the Crash
The front end of the Janglang Buick was destroyed, and the car suffered some front-half chassis damage. Despite an effort to repair it in time for the second round of the high-stakes $105,000 shootout, the damage proved too extensive for a quick fix, forcing Kye to sit out the remainder of the event.
These no time 275 cars are absolute monsters, with no overdrive restrictions and minimal weight regulations, making them some of the fastest small tire cars out there. Based on performance estimates, these cars are likely running in the 3.60s—if not even faster—depending on track conditions. Given the speed and power involved, attempting to race an unsafe car simply wasn’t an option.

What’s Next for the Janglang Buick?
Kye Kelley is expected to repair the Janglang Buick and keep it on a small tire setup. With Speed Promotions hosting two massive $100,000-to-win small tire events this year—one on no prep and the other on a prepped surface—there’s a good chance we’ll see Janglang back in action soon. Given how competitive the car was before the crash, it’s bound to be a strong contender in both categories once repairs are complete.
Interestingly, Kye may also bring out the Shocker on a 28105 setup for the small tire no prep event. That would make for an exciting showdown, as both cars are known for their raw speed and ability to dominate in their respective classes.
