The 2025 Speed Promotions series is shaping up to be one of the wildest racing seasons yet, and Chris Michael’s Gucci Nova is making sure it stays ahead of the curve. This season, the team is stepping up their game by adding nitrous to their already potent ProCharger setup—pushing the limits of what’s possible in no-holds-barred racing.

No Limits, No Restrictions – The Speed Promotions Appeal
One of the most exciting aspects of the Speed Promotions series is the complete lack of power adder and weight restrictions. This means racers can run any combination of power they want, including dual power adders. Without the usual rulebook limitations, many teams are looking at new ways to gain an edge—including adding nitrous to ProCharger setups.
ProChargers are known for their efficiency, but they also generate heat. Adding nitrous into the mix not only provides an instant power boost but also helps cool the intake charge, making for an even more potent combination. While we’ve seen this setup on lower-horsepower gas engines before, running nitrous on a 3,500-4,000+ horsepower methanol-fueled Hemi is another level entirely.

How Nitrous Changes the Game for ProCharged Racers
The strategic use of nitrous could be a game-changer, especially as a “scramble” button. If a racer finds themselves trailing at the 330-foot mark, they can hit the nitrous and instantly gain 200-300 extra horsepower. The cooling effect of nitrous further enhances the ProCharger’s performance, making this combination even more lethal on the track.
Jeff Lutz has already added a nitrous system to his Mustang, and now Chris Michael’s Gucci Nova is following suit. But they won’t be alone—expect to see Ryan Martin, Shawn Ellington, and several other ProCharged racers experimenting with nitrous this season.

What This Means for the Competition
ProCharged cars have always been competitive, but they historically don’t make as much peak power as screw-blown cars when unrestricted. The addition of nitrous could help bridge that gap. Meanwhile, twin-turbo cars are also looking to make a comeback, especially with the introduction of the 36-inch-tall tire in NPK racing.
Last season, the 34.5-inch tire put turbo cars and screw blowers at a disadvantage. Now, with the bigger tire, these combinations could see a resurgence—especially if track conditions favor them. The same goes for ProCharged setups, which will benefit from the added grip and stability.
A Season to Watch
With teams pushing the limits in every way possible, 2025 is shaping up to be a must-watch season for fans of no-prep and outlaw racing. Whether it’s nitrous-boosted ProChargers, the return of twin turbos, or the ever-dominant screw blowers, the competition is going to be fierce. Keep an eye on Gucci Nova and the rest of the Speed Promotions field—because things are about to get real interesting.
