There’s been some serious talk lately about the Fireball possibly jumping into the 275 drag radial world. Yep, you read that right. One of the most iconic cars in the Street Outlaws world might be getting a fresh new look, setup, and tire combo to throw down in some of the biggest small-tire races of the season.
Why the Switch?
Ryan Martin has made it clear—this season, his focus is on running the gray car in Speed Promotions’ 2025 season. That ride will be set up with a ProCharger, a lockup, Liberty transmission, and all the bells and whistles to keep it competitive and consistent. And while the Fireball Camaro was actually faster than the gray car at points last season, its downfall was consistency and, more importantly, weight.

The Fireball is still heavy—reportedly around 2830 to 2850 lbs. Compare that to the gray car, which comes in somewhere in the 2700 lb range, and it’s easy to see why Ryan's making the switch for the main events.
But What About 275s?
Even though the Fireball won’t be Ryan’s primary car this season, it might not be sitting in the garage for long. There’s been chatter about the car getting a makeover and heading into the 275 drag radial game. If that happens, we could be looking at something lethal on a prepped track.
Think about it—a screw-blown Fireball Camaro with a 128% overdrive setup, on 275 drag radials, and a prepped surface? That could be a recipe for absolute domination in No Time 275, Pro 275, or any of the small-tire classes at Speed Promotions' $100,000 races.

Now, we don’t have confirmation on just how prepped those tracks are going to be, but we’ve heard rumblings that radial prep might be in the cards. If that’s the case, and if the Fireball is tuned right, it could definitely shake things up.
Don’t Forget the Phoenix
Of course, Ryan still has the Phoenix Camaro, a proven small-tire no prep killer. But when it comes to a fully-prepped track, drag radials, and big-money races, the Fireball Camaro with that screw-blown setup might actually be the better choice—despite its weight disadvantage.
Looking Ahead
Ryan struggled a bit last season, but we’ve got a feeling 2025 is going to be a different story. Whether it’s the gray car dominating on big tires, the Phoenix continuing to kill it on small-tire no prep, or the Fireball Camaro making waves in the 275 radial world—one thing’s for sure: Ryan Martin is going to be a force to reckon with.
