This weekend, all eyes will be on Galot Motorsports Park as Bobby Ducote Racing makes an exciting appearance in the Outlaw 105 Pro Street class. For fans of No Prep Kings and street-style racing, this is a must-watch event that brings an NPK racer into a different competitive arena.

Bobby Ducote will be putting his No Prep Kings Firebird to the test on a 105 Outlaw Tire, which is a significant change from the typical NPK setup. This marks, as far as we know, the first time an active NPK racer has competed in the Outlaw 105 Pro Street category. It's always thrilling to see how these top-tier cars adapt to different rule sets and track conditions, and this weekend will be no exception.

A New Challenge for Bobby Ducote Racing

Running on a 33x10.5-inch tire instead of the standard NPK 34.5x17x12 setup presents a unique challenge. With a smaller and narrower footprint, tire management and power application become even more crucial. While Galot Motorsports Park provides a well-prepped surface, the change in tire size will demand a different tuning approach and driving style.

We've seen similar moves in the past, with Lizzy Musi’s Bonnie being put to the test in Pro Street competition. That car, though driven by another racer at the time, proved to be highly competitive in the class. Bobby's Firebird has shown strong performance in NPK, consistently running in the 3.80s and potentially dipping into the 3.70s under ideal conditions.

Can Bobby Be Competitive in Outlaw 105?

Bobby may not be one of the absolute fastest on the NPK circuit, but he was still part of the Elite 16 last season—a testament to his skill and the capability of his car. That alone shows he has the talent to adapt to this new challenge and perform at a high level.

One thing to consider is weight regulations. While specifics on the exact rules for Outlaw 105 versus NPK remain unclear, it’s likely that Bobby’s car will need to be heavier than its usual No Prep Kings trim. Even with added weight and the smaller tire, the Firebird should still be a strong competitor in the field.

A Car Ready for a New Owner

Interestingly, Bobby's Firebird is currently for sale. He’s asking $225,000 for a complete turn-key package that includes two engines—not just one. Given the car’s potential to run in the 3.80s with ease, and possibly into the 3.70s with a few upgrades, this is a solid deal for anyone looking to jump into the high-level no-prep and outlaw racing scene. Built by Marty Merrillette, the Firebird is still a top-tier machine that could easily be dialed in for serious competition in NPK or other drag racing series.

What to Expect This Weekend

With a proven car, plenty of experience, and a new challenge ahead, Bobby Ducote Racing's foray into Outlaw 105 is shaping up to be an exciting storyline for fans of No Prep Kings and outlaw-style racing. If the Firebird performs as expected, we could see Bobby making waves in this class—and maybe even considering further competition outside of NPK.
